Caring about not only how you look, but how you feel and show up everyday is an important part of living a fulfilling life. Self-care isn’t just slapping on a face mask and putting on a bit of Netflix, as much as this sounds like a lovely way to unwind from busy life. Self-love is found much deeper, going beyond being happy with the reflection in the mirror.

The essential human quality of self-acceptance plays an important role in facilitating positive emotional health, wellbeing and happiness. Favoring kindness and compassion, in place of judgment or criticism is something that needs to be practiced if it doesn’t come naturally to us.

Engaging in the mental exercise of mindfulness by acknowledging and appreciating your thoughts, feelings and actions can create a healthy mindset. Have you ever heard the quote “Your mind is a garden. Your thoughts are the seeds. You can grow flowers, or you can grow weeds.”

What we think creates the reality we live in and herein lies the choice of how we show up in our life. A helpful tip is to talk to yourself like someone you love, what would your life be like if you supported your own self like you support others?

With our thoughts, we create the world. What world do you want to live in?

Taking care of your basic needs is essential. This can include focusing on healthy boundaries in relationships, getting adequate sleep, eating a nutritious diet, nourishing your spiritual beliefs, prioritizing work commitments and making time for fun! When life becomes busy, self-care can be pushed aside for other tasks, but by incorporating small habits daily we make space for loving ourselves more.

5 Self-Care Tips:

  1. Focus on what you can control
  2. Have boundaries – say no to things you don’t want to do
  3. Set goals and achieve them!
  4. Organize your life – keep a diary to plan things out
  5. Disconnect every now and again – switch the phone off and relax without screen time

Finding self-love and self-care will influence how you show up in your daily life. A confident person trusts in their skills and choices, making sound decisions that encourage you in all directions of your life. Life can throw us challenges sometimes, and how we handle them is up to us. Being confident in who you are makes you beautiful and will only add to any aesthetic treatments you have.
